The Department of Geography at Texas State University-San Marcos welcomes you to the annual meeting of the Southwestern Division of the Association of American Geographers (SWAAG) in San Marcos, TX, October 23 - 25.  San Marcos lies between Austin and San Antonio, Texas, along Interstate 35 in one of the nation’s fastest growing regions. We are excited about hosting this year's annual meeting.

• Thursday, October 23:
  
  Welcome reception at the Sean Patrick's. Transportation will be arranged from hotels to the reception venue to promote safe travel.  Prior to the reception, Supporting Women in Geography(SWIG) will be hosting a coffee-hour meet and greet at The Coffee Pot on the square at 5pm.  All members of SWAAG and the geography community are invited to attend.

•  Friday, October 24: 

           Paper, panel, and poster sessions on campus at Texas State University-San Marcos

           Lunchtime address: "Geography, Environmental Determinism, and the Bathwater" by Carol Harden,                              Vice President of the Association of American Geographers

           SWAAG business meeting will occur late Friday afternoon

• Banquet at Cheatham Street Warehouse < http://www.cheathamstreet.com> (This is the music hall   where George Strait got his start!) following the business meeting. Authentic Tex-Mex food, award  ceremony and two live bands: Missoula Slim < http://www.gilliamsongs.com> and Dr. G and and the  Mudcats < http://www.doctorgandthemudcats.com>. Eat, socialize, listen and dance!

           Field trips (1/2 and full day) available.
