The Department of Geography will continue to stress both the theoretical and applied realms in all of our degree programs. We will provide a high-quality educational experience in what is the largest undergraduate geography program in the nation, and lead the discipline with innovative applied work as exemplified by our Master of Applied Geography program. We will actively recruit top students nationwide and internationally for our MS and PhD research degree programs. In addition, we expect that significant faculty scholarship and grant activity will support our goal of becoming a top tier, nationally recognized PhD-granting department.
