The Grosvenor Center conducts institutes and workshops that
disseminate geography education strategies to an increasingly
wider audience of teachers that come from a broad spectrum
of disciplines and from locations across the nation. In 2002,
two workshops trained teachers to infuse Geographic Information
System technology and analysis into secondary level instruction.
These workshops are part of the High Tech Workforce Training
Program
that strives to prepare people for careers in the high
tech industry. A third workshop conducted in 2002, prepared new
Teacher Consultants to conduct in-service teacher training in
geography education at their home schools and school districts.
This program was part of the work conducted for the Texas
Alliance for Geographic Education
which has its headquarters in
the Grosvenor Center.
