As Chair of the Department of Geography, I very strongly support President Trauth's released statement in reference to the reports of action and expression that have occurred on campus in recent days.
These are values we stand by. They are at the core of who we are as educators and citizens:
A diversity of people and ideas, a spirit of inclusiveness, a global perspective, and a sense of community as essential conditions for campus life;
The cultivation of character and the modeling of honesty, integrity, compassion, fairness,respect, and ethical behavior, both in the classroom and beyond; and
Engaged teaching and learning based in dialogue, student involvement, and the free exchange of ideas.
