Case Study

The case study focuses upon on one of the world’s largest mining operations, the Grasberg Mineral District, and its effects on the environment in Indonesia. The mine is located on New Guinea and owned by Freeport McMoRan Copper and Gold, which has a controlling interest, the Government of Indonesia and 2 other companies. The mine is operated by PT Freeport Indonesia and employs 18,000 people.
